Mississauga, Ontario and Dallas, Texas—March 20, 2008— CompuCom Systems, Inc., a leading IT outsourcing company, today announced that its Canadian subsidiary, CCSI Technology Solutions Corp., has acquired SaltSpring Software Inc. of London, Ontario, a dedicated hardware and software reseller with Microsoft Large Account Reseller (LAR) status. With the acquisition of SaltSpring, CCSI will assume the new status of a North American LAR for Microsoft to resell software in Canada, allowing CCSI to extend its leadership in this region. The new LAR status complements and broadens the successful partnership between CompuCom and Microsoft as the two organizations have worked together for more than a decade.
Upon closing, CompuCom and its Canadian subsidiary CCSI will integrate the SaltSpring offering, which includes software licensing, hardware and software fulfillment and acquisition, custom configuration and implementation, hardware support resources, as well as consulting services into the company’s award-winning portfolio of infrastructure management services, application services, systems integration and procurement services. In addition to establishing Microsoft LAR status in Canada, the acquisition will strengthen CCSI’s existing software business by integrating SaltSpring’s complementary expertise in managing software licensing, purchasing, renewals and compliance within Canada.
“As one of the premier providers of software in the marketplace today, CompuCom offers a consultative, cost-reduction approach that positions us to procure the best software contracts in Canada and North America,” said Phil Soper, Vice President and General Manager of CCSI. “After the acquisition is completed, our clients will reap expanded benefits from the combined Canadian organizations and resulting synergies, specifically with end-to-end Microsoft licensing, migration and deployments, as well as the merged quality of support.”
“The acquisition of SaltSpring is a continuation of CompuCom's investment in Microsoft business in Canada, and it further reinforces our commitment to growth, both inorganic and organic,” said James Dixon, Chief Executive Officer of CompuCom. “We are dedicated to providing the best possible client support to the hundreds of organizations and partners worldwide that rely on us to serve their daily software management and procurement needs. We are excited about welcoming the SaltSpring associates to our organization and offering the combined expertise to our clients,” added Dixon.
CompuCom has a solid understanding of Microsoft’s licensing programs and product offerings, and is equipped with a dedicated team of software licensing experts who help clients understand licensing agreements as well as all facets of Microsoft related programs, procurement options and processes. SaltSpring is the only North American LAR to win the Microsoft Operational Excellence Award from Microsoft Licensing every year since its inception. Additionally, CompuCom is Gold certified in Canada for Microsoft.
As one of the largest national resellers of software products in North America, CompuCom provides intelligent, comprehensive counsel from assessment through acquisition to help clients minimize costs and maximize productivity throughout the software life cycle. The company’s all-inclusive provisioning process fulfills product orders in a timely, cost-efficient, accurate fashion, and provides valuable consultative and management services in addition to software products.
Under the signed agreement, SaltSpring will be acquired in its entirety and will operate under the CCSI brand name going forward. Additionally, CCSI will run its software business out of SaltSpring’s existing operation in London, Ontario.
